Why it’s important to cleanse… EVERY DAY!

Regular skin cleansing is critical when it comes to maintaining healthy looking skin. In this post I will discuss the importance of cleansing daily, with a little bit of insight of why using the Nimue cleansing gel is your best option.

The most obvious reason for cleansing is to remove build up, during the day you encounter thousands of different bacteria, and I know it sounds really gross, but imagine going to sleep without cleansing… you’re basically creating a breeding ground for bacteria on your pillowcase. YUK!

Second most important part of cleansing is that, with the use of a good moisturiser, cleansing helps to maintain a good level of hydration. This also helps to avoid skin looking dry, wrinkled, aged and rough. Cleansing balances the PH levels of the skin which enables your skin with product and water absorption.

Thirdly, cleansing clears pores of any dirt to prevent mucky build up. Cleansing allows something called sebum oil to reach the surface of your skin unhindered. Sebum is an oil that the skin produces to protect our skin from the harsh environment. So how it works is that the sebum glands use hair follicles as a pathway which allows the oil to submerge on the outer layer of your skin. This oil then forms a barrier on your skin which prevents bacteria from penetrating the skin. But when you don’t cleanse, these follicles become blocked, and the oil can’t reach the surface of your skin… ultimately leading to the big A, yes I am referring to Acne!

So why Nimue you ask?

The acid mantle is a very fine, slightly acidic film on the surface of the skin acting as a barrier to bacteria, viruses and other potential contaminants that might penetrate the skin. It is secreted by sebaceous glands. The pH of the skin is between 4.5 and 6.2, slightly acidic.

Pertaining to the above stated fact, the Nimue cleansing gel is an acidic based cleanser which means it protects your acid mantle, which is vital to our skin’s health.

The Nimue cleansing gel also has light exfoliation properties and gently hydrates your skin. On top of this it doubles as an eye-make up remover. This makes your cleansing routine so much easier after a long day at work.

I also struggled with eczema on my eyelids, and since I started using Nimue cleansing gel on my skin I have never struggled with eczema again. The cleansing gel leaves my skin feeling fresh and moisturized. I must admit, this is definitely one of my favourite products in the Nimue skin care range.

How to use Nimue cleansing gel:

  • Use small amount on damp cotton pads to remove eye makeup.
  • Massage small amount of product into skin with wet fingertips for one minute, rinse thoroughly with water.
